Broadcom's recently released high-definition software will be incorporated into new builds of Intel's Santa Rosa mobile platform during the second half of 2007. The processing upgrade will fix many of Vista-compatibility issues that occur when watching high-definition videos.
Apple added three new MacBooks to its product line Tuesday, although notably absent was Intel's new Santa Rosa processing chip. The three new notebook computers do offer faster processors, beefier storage capacity and stronger wireless connectivity.
Hammacher Schlemmer's new 73517 voice-activated remote control looks to solve a common problem for some -- having to get off the couch to retrieve the remote. Besides its voice features, the device also features an extensive code library and learning capabilities.
Nintendo's Wii outsold Sony's PlayStation 3 console by a ratio of 3-to-1 in April, with Wii sales totaling 300,000 to PS3's 100,000, according to estimates from Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter. For the four-week period ending May 5, Pachter estimates software sales increased 24%.
Wal-Mart Stores is expanding its electronics section with the addition of Skype gear, including handsets, headsets and Webcams designed to work with the Skype phone service. The deal also calls for the retailer to offer prepaid Skype phone cards.
