Nearly one in five students in one Pittsburgh-area school have weighted GPAs of 4.6 or higher; at another school, students with GPAs lower than 3.3 fall into the bottom half of the class. Nearly half of college freshmen reported high school grade point averages of A-minus or higher in 2006, compared with 19.4% in 1966, according to UCLA's Higher Education Research Institute.
