U.S. first lady Laura Bush is hoping to use her four-country African tour this week to shine a powerful spotlight not only on HIV/AIDS, but on two of Africa's other most pressing health care issues, malnutrition and malaria. "It is often overlooked that one of the essential things in the treatment of AIDS or HIV is good nutrition," she said in Senegal. Malaria, eradicated in the U.S. almost six decades ago, infects between 300 million and 500 million Africans and kills 1 million every year.
