Developers are set to move ahead with a project to build 4,000 new homes and two midrise hotels in Galveston, Texas, despite warnings that the development could destroy a natural storm shield on the storm-prone island. Critics say Galveston officials are ignoring environmental threats in favor of tax money, but officials say the plans for the development, which would be the largest in the city's history, are sound.
