With 43 million aging Americans at risk for developing eye diseases by 2020, the American Academy of Ophthalmology now recommends that people get screened at age 40 for macular degeneration, cataracts and other age-related eye issues. The guidelines are part of a new AAO EyeSmart awareness campaign that also includes a Web site.
