An IGA Supermarket is expected to open in downtown Seattle by February. The new store will offer a variety of organic produce and meat and a full selection of prepared foods, including self-serve hot food and salad bars, a deli and a taqueria.
Five retail chain pharmacies will be rewarded for their contributions and value to their communities by Time Inc. and Drug Store News at the second annual Drug Store News Community Awards. In addition to the Sept. 27 invitation-only ceremony, which is expected to draw more than 250 retail and supplier executives, Drug Store News will donate $40,000 to the honorees' chosen charities.
Altria Group plans to spin off Phillip Morris International, saving $250 million and laying off roughly 400 employees in New York. The timing of the spinoff will be announced at a board meeting on Jan. 30.
