Pulmuone Wildwood, a tofu maker in California, is closing its Santa Cruz-area production facility in September and moving operations to a larger factory. The tofu company was bought in 2004 by Pulmuone Co., a South Korean organic foods maker.
Smithfield Foods is in negotiations with Chinese importer company COFCO to sell pork to China, said Smithfield CEO Larry Pope. COFCO is China's largest food importer and exporter and a leading food manufacturer.
The FDA proposed new laws for labeling sunscreen that would require manufacturers to test and label a product's protection levels against UVA and UVB rays, both of which can cause skin cancer. Currently, sunscreen labels only note UVB protection.
