A maze of protective polyurethane sheets likely made things much harder for firefighters trying to battle a blaze inside an abandoned skyscraper on Saturday near Ground Zero in New York, according to the state's Gov. Eliot Spitzer. Two firefighters died in the blaze, and in addition to the plastic sheeting, other problems included a failed interior water supply and difficulties in reaching the site due to gaps in floors and ceilings that were part of the building's demolition.
