Health professionals need to do a better job of warning young women to not become pregnant when they're taking prescription drugs that can cause birth defects, a new study suggests. Less than half of nearly 500,000 women studied did not get counseling from their providers about the use of birth control measures while taking such medicines, research says. Researchers note that the findings imply women should consult their providers about the potential pregnancy risks of the drugs they intend to take.
