When the communication equipment at the Memphis air traffic control center crashed, controllers had to use their personal cell phones to alert the staffs of other control centers. Lawmakers want to know why the system was so easily crippled and what is being done to assure it never happens again.
Although airlines waiting for delivery of Boeing Dreamliners are unhappy about the announced delays, they don't expect later deliveries to cause any problems. Carriers will continue to fly planes slated for retirement until the new jets arrive.

The Alliance for Sensible Airspace Planning, a coalition of 10 towns preparing to fight FAA plans to direct more air traffic over Fairfield County, Conn., has retained Steve Pflaum, of the law firm of McDermott, Will and Emery LLP. The towns, which are gearing up for an expensive court battle with the FAA, are still deciding how to split the legal costs.

The jet manufacturer's stock fell 3% -- a significant drop, but small enough to signal general investor confidence in the company.
