Some people who are overweight can reduce their blood pressure to a healthy level and avoid drug treatment for hypertension by losing weight, according to a study. Researchers found 49% of women and 53% of men with BMIs between 25 and 29.9 achieved normal body weight and a 5% reduction in blood pressure after six month on individualized, low-calorie diets.
