If the country doesn't experience an economic recession, the average hotel should see a 5.5% annual increase in revpar over the next three years, according to PKF Hospitality Research. The firm does not anticipate a near-term recession, but if one did occur between 2008 and 2009, PKF predicts the U.S. lodging industry could see a 6.1% decline in room revenue through 2010.
