Analysts say outside investors' infusion of $2.55 billion of capital into E-Trade Financial Corp. may keep the financial-services firm alive, but it is unlikely to be enough to entice a new suitor. "The elephant in the room remains the valuation of some $44 billion in mortgage-related assets still on their books," said Sean Egan of Egan-Jones Credit Rating Co.
