California-based Navigenics plans to reveal Health Compass, a genetic test that could help detect an individual's risk for more than 20 diseases. The $2,500 test will be available starting in early 2008 and will be offered directly to consumers via the Internet with results posted on a password-protected Web site. Another California firm, 23andme, may launch a similar test by the end of the year.
