With nonresidential building still on the upswing, hotel and resort construction is steadily growing around the country. The industry is moving past pre-Sept. 11, 2001, levels, according to Lodging Econometrics, and the firm projects the construction of 1,200 hotel projects, equaling a total of 136,692 rooms, in 2008, compared to 1,042 hotels in 2007.
