New research shows that cyclical vomiting syndrome -- periods of intense vomiting lasting hours to days with symptom-free intervals spanning weeks to months -- resolves itself without medical intervention in the majority of patients. According to the findings, 61% of children were episode-free for a year after an average of 4.5 years after diagnosis, however other somatic symptoms such as headaches and stomachaches persisted in most children.
