New technology from Microsoft will enable drivers to use voice-activated commands to make phone calls or use digital-music players. The "Sync" system, which will be installed in new Ford, Mercury and Lincoln vehicles, will let drivers link up music players through a connector in the boot between the driver and passenger seats, as well as use Bluetooth technology to allow hands-free cell phone use.
