Critics say a proposed U.S. law could do significant damage to the cruise industry as it will force cruise lines to drastically change itineraries. The law would require foreign flagged ships to spend more time at foreign destinations. Cheryl Hudak, CTC, president and CEO of ASTA, said it would probably mean more expensive trips that are less appealing. "The end result of this would be that travel agencies, especially those that are cruise-only, would suffer financially as their clients choose to book other vacations," Hudak said.
