A British entrepreneur helped bail out a small Swiss village by buying its struggling mid-altitude ski resort for a single Swiss franc, the equivalent of about 90 cents. The Ernen ski lift company, with four ski lifts, two trail groomers and 12 miles of ski slopes, has been facing tough times because of a lack of snow and a growing preference by skiers to head to higher-altitude, larger resorts.
