Instead of trekking across campus to a professor's office for help, more students are logging on to chat online during virtual help sessions. "You can be in your room or in the middle of the library and 'attend' without having to go anywhere," says Harvard University freshman Peter Bailis, who has logged onto his computer-science professor's online sessions several times. "But traditional office hours are better for the big picture," he admits.
