High school and college students, many of whom can't remember their French pronouns, are speaking a new language for texting friends via their cell phones. The shorthand, dubbed textonyms, adaptonyms or cellodromes, is based on the handset's predictive text feature, so that "cool" becomes "book," and the old-fashioned texting jargon "woohoo!" has been replaced by "zonino!"
