With some of its dams dating back to the 1920s, Ohio is re-examining the safety of dams across the state. ASCE's "D" grade on dams nationwide has focused attention on the problem, and regulators in Ohio are enforcing safety upgrades at 15 dams in the state. Congress has taken up the issue as well, with dam-safety legislation already passed by the House and pending in the Senate.
