Symptoms of allergic reactions may be prevented without shutting down the body's immune system by targeting the p110delta protein, which has been associated with various diseases, including cancer, a study revealed. A drug targeting the protein could be produced as a capsule for patients with asthma or as a topical medicine for eczema, and drugmakers including Genentech and Pfizer have already expressed interest in developing such a treatment, researchers said.
