Parents are calling on school officials to institute security changes after a 15-year-old Los Angeles-area boy, who had recently come out, was shot in class last week in what prosecutors say was a hate crime. "There were probably weeks of this student being subjected to harassment," said parent Joe Gonzales, who joined many others in calling for tougher anti-bullying measures. "We need to know what was done, or not done, so we can prevent something like this from happening again instead of reacting to it."
