Global sales of WiMAX equipment reached almost $800 million last year as the market grew 46%, including an 11% gain in the fourth quarter, according to Infonetics Research. The report, which noted that the wireless technology had been deployed in 80 countries, said a number of developments had spurred WiMAX growth, and it predicted sales would reach $7.7 billion in 2011.
