A new military cargo jet built by Lockheed Martin will be made of composites, which experts say have the potential to reduce the weight of the plane. Lockheed hopes to fly a test plane by October. "This is fundamentally a different way of building aircraft," said Mike Swanson, project lead engineer. "We're going up against 70 years of traditional metal fabrication."
