The FDA is giving the public more information on drug safety, as evidenced by the 14 advisories it has issued since November. Paul Seligman, director of the FDA's Office of Drug Safety, said the agency is making good on HHS Secretary Mike Leavitt's pledge to promptly inform the public of the side effects of approved drugs. Rep. John Dingell, D-Mich., an FDA critic, has deemed the development "a quantum improvement."
