A Gainesville, Fla.-area school board may cut nurses from nearly all of the district's schools after it loses $1 million in Medicaid reimbursements currently used to pay the salaries of 29 of the health professionals. County funding that pays for another 13 school nurses is expected to be eliminated soon, as well. In the 2005-2006 school year, district students made nearly 70,000 visits to their schools' health offices.
