Hilton Hotel Group says it opened 241 hotels in 2007 and is continuing to expand at an average rate of five hotels per week. The chain claims a total of 3,000 hotels in its various brands with 500,000 rooms, and expansion plans for the near future include Russia, Turkey and China. Other hotel chains, including Wyndham Worldwide and Marriott International, reported higher shares amid positive earnings.
