Family-run Atie's Bakery in Forty Fort, Pa., makes pita bread that is sold to area supermarkets, including stores of Weis Markets and Wegmans Food Markets. Abdu Atie was 15 when his family moved from Lebanon to Wilkes-Barre, Pa. The business began in 1982, with his mother, Souad, making and selling spinach pies from their home.
Six Wegmans stores in Pennsylvania are now carrying beer. The locations all house restaurants, which allowed the food retailer to obtain the proper permits. Most grocery stores in the state cannot sell beer, wine or liquor.
Cott, a store-brand soft drink manufacturer, announced that it is replacing its CEO Brent Willis. David Gibbons, a director at the company, will serve as interim CEO while the company's board looks for a permanent replacement.
