Jeff Donohoo, 36, spent six years in special education before being mainstreamed but wasn't diagnosed with autism until he was a high-school freshman. Although social and physical interactions are still difficult and Donohoo still finds comfort in routine, he has worked for 16 years in the kitchen of a local hospital. "It's rewarding today, because he's come so far, but it was a long road," says his mother, Nancy.
