Connecticut Gov. M. Jodi Rell may veto a bill raising the minimum wage to $8 an hour by the first of the year, up to $8.25 by 2010, if the senate passes it. Business groups, including NFIB, also oppose the measure. "Heaping a costly new wage mandate on top of skyrocketing energy costs, food prices and health care costs will only lead to fewer small businesses and fewer jobs in Connecticut," says Andy Markowski, NFIB/Connecticut.
