Dairy Crest announced that milk sales to big retailers are up 10% over 2008, and it continues to reduce costs and cut debt. The dairy producer, which supplies milk, cheese and butter under brands including Clover, said its "five key brands have all showed strong growth."
The Vermont House of Representatives is now considering the Farm Fresh Milk Restoration Act. The bill would allow farmers to choose whether to sell fresh milk -- after meeting set requirements -- and set their own prices.
