Policymakers in New Orleans want to make over the city's industrial riverfront, replacing warehouses and cargo terminals with miles of parks and gathering places. According to an economic impact study, the $300 million project would create 24,000 jobs and increase tourist spending by $700 million. Remaking the riverfront would be "the most exciting project the city has seen in decades, maybe in its history," says City Council President Arnie Fielkow.
