Some Web privacy advocates are hailing a New Jersey Supreme Court ruling forbidding ISPs from revealing a user's IP address to police without a grand jury subpoena as a "harbinger of a trend" for boosting online confidentiality. But Bob Dykes, CEO of behavioral targeting startup NebuAd, believes the ruling "isn't relevant to our business practice" because the firm doesn't use "personally identifiable" data.
