Unified communications are all the rage among enterprise users. And in that spirit, Verizon Business this week introduced a PBX extension designed to allow mobile employees to stay closely linked to their office PBXs for UC services, such as transferring calls from cell phones to office extensions. Dubbed PBX Mobile Extension, the service runs on software from Research in Motion's Ascendent Systems unit and can be deployed on basic off-the-shelf servers in conjunction with a TDM or Internet-based PBX.
