Seattle-area science teacher Carl Chew, who was suspended without pay for refusing to give his students a standardized test, has received an outpouring of support from educators and parents. "I want to nominate him for teacher of the year," said Donald C. Orlich, Washington State University education professor emeritus and author of "School Reform: The Great American Brain Robbery. "We need nonviolent strikes against [standardized testing]."
