Even as states such as Arizona and Colorado make national headlines with their efforts to streamline the hiring of guest workers, the overall mood in the U.S. remains strongly anti-immigration. Some 350 immigration bills were introduced at the state level in January and February alone, reports the Associated Press. More than two dozen anti-immigration bills are pending in California, where legislators are blaming an $8 billion budget deficit -- at least in part -- on the "negative impact" of illegal immigration.
