Water management officials in Southern California are offering golf courses a rebate of $13 for each plastic irrigation nozzle they replace with a water-saving, solid metal nozzle. With 1,500 sprinklers on the average golf course in the region, the savings could be significant, rebate program officials say. U.S. golf courses use nearly 500 billion gallons of water a year -- about 88 million gallons per course.
