The Department of Transportation has issued two new rules that aim to protect consumers. First, travel agents and airlines will be required to disclose in their advertisements fees related to checking a second piece of luggage. The DOT will also require airlines to provide more complete data on the time air passengers spend on the tarmac. "Passengers should know whether it will take as long for their flight to get to the runway as it will to land at their destination," Transportation Secretary Mary Peters said.
