The Human Fertilisation and Embryology Bill is scheduled for a second hearing today amid growing opposition from various sectors. The bill, which seeks to amend the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Act 1990, will make existing laws "fit for purpose in the 21st century" and clear up some legalities concerning the use of early human embryos, as well as allow the creation of "human admixed embryos," an expert said.
