The New Employee Verification Act would expand the Electronic Employment Verification System used to track child support enforcement by requiring employers to confirm workers' employment eligibility through the the new-hire reporting program in their states. Employers would use the IT program to verify the Social Security numbers of new workers, background checks and collect any biometric data on file -- such as a thumbprint -- to prevent identity theft. NFIB is among the supporters of the bill.
