Cable ONE, according to this report, has selected Digital Multimedia Technology and Nagravision as partners on its high-definition digital terminal adapter. Once completed, Cable ONE is expected to be the first cable provider in the U.S. to offer such a device with integrated security. Nagravision and Cable ONE declined to comment for this report; DMT could not be reached for comment.
Fox Cable Networks has signed a new carriage deal with Comcast to present the high-definition versions of the FX and Speed channels. The networks will be shown in the 720p format and will be rolled out on HD basic tiers across Comcast's systems by the end of next year.
The Comcast Media Center has announced the addition of 14 high-definition channels from eight programming groups to the company's HITS service. The new channels include History, Animal Planet, ABC Family, Lifetime Movie and USA.
Comcast has set early December as the launch date for high-definition service of its Versus, Golf Channel and E! networks. The country's largest cable provider recently completed construction on a new HD production facility for Versus in Stamford, Conn.
Cox Communications next month will begin carrying Lifetime HD, Lifetime Movie Network HD, Lifetime on Demand and Lifetime Movie Network Español. Lori Conkling, Lifetime's executive vice president of distribution, said the company's research indicated that its female viewers wanted more high-definition programming.
