Although effective in reducing high dropout rates among teen mothers, high schools for pregnant and parenting teens are being eliminated or having trouble making ends meet, with state grants drying up as more teen parents are mainstreamed. Such schools often offer alternate starting times for those with morning sickness, places to nurse hungry babies without leaving classrooms and lots of reminders about the value of a high-school diploma, but critics say some such schools provide substandard educations.
