Study participants with social anxiety disorder had biochemical differences in their brains compared with the control group, according to researchers in the Netherlands who used SPECT to analyze certain brain neurotransmitters. The study, which included a total of 24 participants, "demonstrates that social anxiety has a physical, brain-dependent component," said one of the researchers. Read the SNM news release.
