The number of cell networks that foster machine-to-machine communications will grow almost 38% a year to reach 186 million connections by 2012, largely on the back of vehicle telematics, according to Berg Insight. While machine-to-machine applications represent just 1% to 3% of all mobile connections today -- up to 10% in Sweden and Finland -- Berg expects that cellular-linked navigational systems will account for more than half of network connections in four years.
