More than one-third of Americans want to see schools place greater emphasis on math, according to a separate Associated Press poll released Friday. Educators say that may be because many parents were themselves intimidated by math and feel unprepared to help their children themselves. The survey also found parents were split over the ability of standardized testing to measure learning, but most thought classwork was a more effective way to measure learning.
