Danone has announced it will pay $685.14 million to acquire a majority stake in Centrale Laitiere, Morocco's top dairy product company. Danone has held a 29.2% stake in the company since 2001. The deal "confirms the strategic appeal of markets in North Africa for Danone," Danone said in a statement.
Del Monte Foods announced that it is considering selling its StarKist seafood division to Dongwon Group, a South Korean food company. The discussion is part of Del Monte's exploration of "strategic alternatives" for the seafood business.

Danone Asia, a division of Groupe Danone, plans to acquire an 8.46% stake in Bright Dairy & Food for $44.6 million, in addition to a previously announced acquisition of 1.85% of the company's stock. If both of these deals close, Danone Asia will own more than 20% of the Chinese dairy company.
