It could take the FAA up to 18 months to study anew the airspace around southern Nevada in preparation for a new airport. That means the airport in Ivanpah, about 25 miles from Las Vegas, may not open until 2019, instead of 2017, officials say. Meanwhile, Nevada's McCarran International Airport is expected to reach its capacity as early as 2011.
