Rapid Central Station, the first LEED-certified transit facility in the U.S., has completed a $220,000 replacement of its green roof designed to boost energy efficiency and water conservation. In addition to its roof, the station boasts a rain garden to limit runoff and cisterns under the platform that discharge only clean water into the city's storm drains. Rapid Central Station is the hub of the public transit system in Grand Rapids, Mich.
